Undisclosed Locations

September26

As many of you know Summer and I resigned from our church in Austin (volunteer positions) to look for something full time.  It’s hard to find something in the church planting or multi-site church when all you’ve done for eight years is helped churches start by volunteering and working secular jobs.  You would think pastors would see ones true passion to start churches, but they look for lead pastor experience when hiring for their staff (which I understand).

However, we are starting to visit churches to explore the idea of helping churches start something new.  Very exciting!  But we know people (family) have a vested interest in where we end up so we will refer to these locations as “undisclosed” for the fun of it.

The three of us are flying out of Austin tomorrow to visit such as location about starting a second campus in the downtown district.  Not the metropolis we would hope for but we both feel God is in this trip.  Please pray God leads our thoughts, eyes, hearts, and minds in the direction of what His doing.  It’s a big decision for us and we want Christ best.

Do you have a book with adult conversational starters?

September23

Just the other day, Chris and I were making fun of ourselves, at the lamo conversations we have during the week. Because our schedule doesn’t look normal, we barely get to see each other except for maybe at 9:25 pm Monday-Wednesday as I’m putting Tatum down and running to bed myself. Thursdays and Fridays are much better for conversational pieces, but we thought, hey, we need to find a book of conversational starters for couples with new babies. Something other than:

1) Did Tatum do ok with Amanda this morning when you dropped her off?

2) What time did you feed Tatum before you left for work?

3) What are you doing during lunch? What are you eating?

4) How’s your day?

5) Seriously, this list could get a lot more boring.

So, thank goodness for family visiting this weekend, we had our first non-child date together! :) I was treated to a super scrumptious meal at Moonshine (free popcorn, blackened catfish, baked macaroni, and mashed potatoes topped off with a lemonade). I wondered if we’d have absolutely anything important to talk about during dinner, but it developed into a great evening with us talking about our thoughts for our next step in ministry; the thoughts and fears we have towards what we are doing next; what life would be like meeting new people and how we would go about doing it, etc. In case many of you don’t know, Chris and I are flying to a particular city this coming weekend to check it out and discuss with a pastor/friend a possibility of a new place for us. We both are very excited, extremely nervous, and hopeful for what may come for us and our new family.

We came home just in time to nurse my little girl before sleeping officially for the evening.
